Re: Riot in your head
Chris ... lead part:
Well, the harmonies remind me of Thin Lizzy ... but even more the second part (01'01") ... a John Sykes era kind of solo ... which I dig but ... and there is a but ... Will this somehow fit in what we already have? We'll see when the whole thing takes shape ...

Re: Riot in your head

I can also give it a shot ... but only if Duke takes over the Lady part, I am usually the Man in my relationships

John Sykes? Wow, I had worse comparisons
But to be fair, for the level of his playing, I'd have to find how to shift to that 4th and 5th gear ...
Re the "does it match", I agree. Guess we can drop it. I haven't done any harmony guitars before, so I was playing around a bit. Maybe Bernie can come up with something that matches better.

Bernard likes it ... So I think it would be good "to keep it under the elbow" ... And let the whole thing shape up ...
By the way ... if you have an idea for the voice melody chorus ... feel free to share it ...

Re: Riot in your head
Added some new twists towards the end of the track. I think I found a guitar style that suits the song better, with only a short solo part but more repetitive patterns. See Gmail.
Re: Riot in your head
Good work! I like the adds at the end. Maybe the solo part has to be improved a bit but the powerfull part with double bass is awsome.

Good feedback. If you have an idea for lead bit, please feel free to lay down some tracks.
Re: Riot in your head
I will try to put some leads. We can put some alternate leads like in Judas Piest or Megadeth... However I do not have their technique

Technique is overrated. Let's try to focus on melody and tone, at least that would be somehow unique in metal land ... well apart from Opeth, but their leads although genius melody wise, are a bit too mellow for me regarding the attitude they put in, feels a bit like Yoga gurus playing guitar ... I'd rather have some rugby style but with very nice harmonies ... guess I'm talking a bit silly now
Off to Germany now, see you Monday! (I might be able to log in once in a while but it's a bit complicated there).
Re: Riot in your head
I really like the way you played the rhythm, with the slight bend on the last note, very cool. I'd like to keep the harmonized part at 3:52 til 4:04 of the lead part I posted, but not yet sure what should happen after.
It's a good piece you added but I find it difficult to see how it lifts it to lead into the next part at 4:35, so I think it needs to pick up on speed somehow and have the 2 guitars join together.
Maybe if we have some time in one of the rehearsals soon, we could jam a bit on it and record and see if we come up with something?

Transferring the files now. Will need to do some cutting/normalising/encoding etc. Will post later today or tomorrow.
Re: Riot in your head
Yes, and it's a lot of time! Thank you Chris for all these jobs. Before your presence in the band it's was my job and I know how much time is it...Will need to do some cutting/normalising/encoding etc
But I plan to buy a recording gear like your in october, in Honk Kong, when I come back from Nepal...
Re: Riot in your head
It's kinda nice as a chord sequence, but I cannot tell anything unless I put the other parts with this together and see how it sounds then.
Not sure about the rhythm of the refrain pattern, I might slightly wanna alter the rhythmic feel of it.
By the way I posted the other stuff from yesterday, too.

Thanks for your appreciation Paul. It's good if we can share the effort (one week you one week me)
You should look at the:
Tascam DR-1 (the one I have)
Tascam DR-07 (cheaper version of what I have)
Tascam DR-100 (more expensive version of what I have)
Sony PCM D50 (more expensive, but awesome quality - maybe affordable in HongKong)
Edirol R-09 HR (similar quality/price as the Tascam DR-1)
I would stay away from Zoom, they are crap. The Olympus looks nice and is sized like a mobile phone, but it distorted via the internal mics when I tested it with a loud drumset at key music/rue midi.
Re: Riot in your head

Re: Riot in your head
Ok, some new stuff posted, no great mix or something, just a draft of how the new refrain could sit in the arrangement.
No longer sure about the jazzy part...
No longer sure about the jazzy part...
Re: Riot in your head
At 1'23 ... there is something missing (between the verse and the chorus) ... There should be a transition there ...
Now about the jazzy part ... This song should not start with that but with the mellow part ... It can be kept but it should be, in my opinion, a little shorter ... from 1'48 to 1'54 (so, two runs) ... it is enough.
