Re: Riot in your head
ExtraPaul a écrit:Chris: at measure 75 (1'53") there is the out of the chorus...
... but the number of measures is strange: 3,5 measures ! (7 x 2/4 in fact).
It's the part Phil doesn't like
It's a deliberate thing that the guitar is running against the drums, I think originally it was played 8 times and then it ended on an even measure, but I was asked to shorten it, which is why it doesn't add up.
This part is a bit lost in the song now and maybe we can put it on hold or use it in a different song. Not sure anymore if it still adds something on this one.
I really like the verse and the chorus now though...
Re: Riot in your head
Yes I know but me and Bernard like it.It's the part Phil doesn't like
I'm not sure to understand why 3,5 measures: we will see this this evening...

I think it ended up being 7 measures and the 8th was the bridge riff that we removed (too Metallica like).
Guess we'll have to fix it somehow if it's wrong then ...
Re: Riot in your head
I think we worked out a good structure for this today. I'll pull it all together tomorrow and post a latest version as well some clips of what we worked on today.
Re: Riot in your head
The tempo is still 157?

Re: Riot in your head
From me the priority would be the chorus (the initial version is the best I think) ... The take where you loop on it ...

Re: Riot in your head
I'll post some other riff ideas for the chorus beacause i'm still not convinced (sorry ;-). But I have my childrens, my mother and my girlfriend home and it's impossible for me to work properly in these conditions.
Re: Riot in your head

Re: Riot in your head
there was an alternative chorus yesterday, following Olis bassline, but we preferred the original, I posted it anyways.
Re: Riot in your head
it's different. maybe more "driving". So that it can (maybe) lead to vocals that sound more like a chorus as Paul said.
Re: Riot in your head
new version of the song up incl the final structure, the new chorus proposal and a solo added
it's pretty patchwork with files from Phil and Bernie and recordings at different times ... seems like this track is hard work and it shows on the number of takes and mails we had so far ... normally I would say that's a bad sign but maybe this one really needs the iterative approach.

Re: Riot in your head
the drums sound cool, did you take a loop, use DFH or play them with the e-drum?
Re: Riot in your head
It's e-drums played through the "headbanger kit" of garage band.
I hope that I will be able to listen to all this carefully but as I said I'm currently not in an environment that is suitable for making music

Re: Riot in your head
Moreover we should not be in a hurry with the new songs : it is better to let them find their way to sound the best. I don't mind if we don't play new stuff at the Yernawe.
Re: Riot in your head
I don't mind if we don't play new stuff at the Yernawe.
Re: Riot in your head

Re: Riot in your head
