Re: Houston we have a problem
Re: Houston we have a problem

Re: Houston we have a problem
Pour Houston la voix ne passe pas... Elle est submergée par la musique. On sent que c'est encore timide. Mais on sent le potentiel.
Re: Houston we have a problem
Trop linéaire, trop basic, trop long.
Il va y avoir du travail...

Re: Houston we have a problem
Ah.
Re: Houston we have a problem
we should not just drop it as it has a good structure and some great riffs (and I already learned that bridge lick which was so difficult for me in the beginning )
I think if someone would come up with a nice, singable vocal melody, e.g. on piano or so, it could already come a long way.
The current vocals get lost in the music and don't set the necessary accent.
Maybe we need to take the guitars a notch back in the verse in those places where there are vocals (e.g. play the theme with muted strings or just muted chords) and then go full blast again where the vocals are on pause. Like that we could also generate more dynamics and create the necessary space for a vocal melody to develop.
Edit: Also the middle part, which we all liked at first, should not just stay as it is now. My delay pattern is a start, but there should be other parts coming on top, either vocals and/or some arpeggios by Bernie or Paul or indeed a very upfront solo from Bernie that takes over the lead of that part. Maybe the part can develop as is for 2 turns, but then the second half should be dominated by a motif on top.

Re: Houston we have a problem
Well... but I already play it "palm muted" . I have the impression that the tempo is a little bit fast for Phil to place the vocals. So it gives this impression that the vocals are trying to run to rejoin the guitars.
About linearity, here is the structure
Intro (2times)
verse with power chords from Chris ans Olivier
Chorus
bridge
verse without power chords
Chorus
melodic part
melodic part outro
outro with harmonized guitars
intro riff
verse with power chords from Chris ans Olivier
final chorus
So I think there are enough different parts.
Maybe we can drop the last Chorus to make it shorter and finish on the verse... but it's not significant I think...
For me the problem is that this song is not "assimilated", we are not yet relax. But it is normal since we haven't played it a lot.

Re: Houston we have a problem
For me the problem is that this song is not "assimilated", we are not yet relax.
Re: Houston we have a problem
Re: Houston we have a problem
Quel dilemme !

Chris, can you post your voice melody that you did on guitar?
