New Fragment: La-La
In Gmail, another idea I had today, called it La-La, as I was singing with "La-La" to find a melody for vocals.
So the guitar that comes in at 00:13 is actual the vocal melody.
Let's discuss if it's worth pursuing further.

I like it ... I'll do it on GarageBand tomorrow ... to have a better idea ...

Re: New Fragment: La-La

Re: New Fragment: La-La
Posted another version with voice melody.
Added a bass on the last part
Added Synths for Intro, Bridge and finale
Added a solo as a first draft, needs a bit of refinement on the harmonized part

Excellent dude!!!! Love it ...Ii'll try something on it, later on ... The only thing that could be done is to speed up the tempo a bit ... like 150 or so ...
What I really like is the verse ... guitars and synth ... one after the other .... we've never done that! It sounds awsome!

Yeah I thought the same when I listened to it earlier. Doing that I'd need to re-record the guitars and the bass, but they're not that great sound wise anyways. Or maybe I can use some audio-processing instead if I'm lazy.
Re: New Fragment: La-La
For the time being ... you can just process it ...

Re: New Fragment: La-La
Made a version on 155Bpm, it's better - see gmail.
Just did the compress on the master though, so for a proper redo, it would need more work, but maybe not needed. All synths etc are no problem to change, as they are Midi, not audio.

It's a great start!
Maybe it would be good to hear the vocals on top of the version without vocal melody played (by the wah wah guitar).
Here's what I had in mind when I wrote/recorded the parts.
Verse: I had thought of this question & answer thing between the chugging guitar and then in between those guitar riffs what I imagined to be some dark/bad vocals, not too much melody, but rather a bit mystic ...
Chorus: ...and then go to a hymn like singing in the refrain in-line with the melody I proposed (could even add choirs to make it more dramatic à la Nabucco) - full on sung from the stomach - if you know what I mean? A bit like him from 1:30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA

If you have something very specific in mind ... you can sing ... So, I'll have a better idea about what you have intended ...

Nah I leave that up to you. Just giving some thoughts, but I did like your version, too!

Re: New Fragment: La-La
Aïe aïe, I don't like very much this song, my friends...
Too slow, too kind (c'est le bon mot pour "gentil" ?).
I like only the first 13 seconds...

Re: New Fragment: La-La
Ok I did some vocals on it.
Posting it anyways, although they're not really like I imagined, but maybe it can give a different idea. Probably my main issue was with the rhythm of the Verse, that I wanted the voice in between the chords, and not above them (like question&answer).
So please don't laugh about my vocals, I have now first handedly experienced what it means to sing vocals at 7:30 in the morning, you just don't dare to go on full.
Anyways, to be honest, listening to this now, I must say it doesn't sound like FL to me, it's probably also not particularly good (apart from the synth pad sound which is awesome )
Maybe we should drop it (unless with vocals from Phil it becomes more FreeLaunchy again).

Goozy was pretty cool, no?
Re: New Fragment: La-La
I don't remember ! (I mean: you don't have posted this recording...;-).
Yes, Goozy is very cool for me, for you!, but for others ? I don't know...
It's correspond to the music I like (and for wich I find ideas), but not neccesary to the style of Free Launch...

Re: New Fragment: La-La

Re: New Fragment: La-La

Re: New Fragment: La-La
I become more interested by the last post of Chris...
Here are some analyses:
I have now the vocal melody with the Philip's voice in my head: a kind of chorus like Rammstein can do!
The voice of Chris is fine, too: missing just a little... autotune ;-)
In conclusion, I think that... the guitars are now the less good part in the song (ignoring drums and bass of course).
Here are some analyses:
- 0'00" to 0'12" this synth is very good. To use it as only an intro is a shame (je veux dire "c'est dommage"). This intro set the song in the XXIe century and...
- ... the guitar following set the song in the 80'
- 0'42": the chorus ? I like this melody of voice!
- 1'40": back to the XXIe century with the arpegiator
