The Eye (new track from Chris)
Well, as the date with Bernie didn't happen today, I used the time to put down some riffs and beats, having FreeLaunch in mind obviously.
Now listening I'm not sure if it's the right direction for FL, might be too far off to be useable.
I mean I'm sure it would be OK to bring some "Jaeger" into the new songs, but it shouldn't be 180° different.
So that's why detailed feedback would be appreciated regarding the style, quality, what is lacking, what is too much, etc.
Please be honest, we're all grown ups, and I'm not religious about my stuff, always happy to improve/change!
Also wanna spend some time on Bernies work in progress stuff.
So here's the clip: http://www.klangforschungszentrum.de/temp/the_eye.mp3

Hey Chris ... nice job ... !!!
I will give you my comment just after giving you a few tips about how we usually proceed when somebody has an idea for a song ... We usually send it to our Gmail address ... Why? Because:
-so we can download the song and listen to it whenever we want to
-it's the best way to keep all the ideas at the same spot. It is our archive's drawer.
-everybody in the band knows where to look for it.
Maybe they didn't give you the Gmail address ...
When something is posted, it's required to give the tempo as well as the key of the song. I use garageband ... so I can drop the file in the program and mess around with with it ... put my vocal trials on top, add a loop, ...
This may sound a bit rigid but we found out throughout the years that it is the best way to keep track of everything ... It's our evolving library.

Re: The Eye (new track from Chris)
Now your song ... The eye ...
You are definitely grasping what we sound like. I'm speaking for myself but what I like to hear in our songs is layers ... And guitar wise ... you get it. Different sound, different way of playing, different theme, ... It's all in there!!!!
Example at 1'14" (a pinch of Metallica "For whom the bell tolls" in there).... 1'31 ... It's powerful yet there is a more melodic feeling to that part ... I like that ...
At 2'12 ... the break ... in my opinion it is not at it's place ... For me it doesn't fit what is before and what comes after ... It is maybe the way it is brought in ... that needs some adjustment ... or that part will maybe work better in another song ...
I like the outro too ... with that little synth sound ...
So I also appreciate what you wrote in your post:
Please be honest, we're all grown ups
Don't worry if there is something that I don't like or I feel it is not appropriate ... or it can be a lot better ... I will let you know!
Hope you will do the same with me ... That's called "stimulation"!

Re: The Eye (new track from Chris)
Good feedback there Duke, yeah that part at 2:12 is maybe a bit dumb
If someone can send me the gmail login, I can also post multitrack (Logic export, track by track) so you guys can play around with them even more, replacing guitar/snyth/drum parts or rearranging bits within the track.

Re: The Eye (new track from Chris)
Good things in this piece. Very dark. I like the progression. However indeed to "fit" the FL standards, I would suggest that some parts will be played by a synth.
But I'm sure your stuff will be used

Re: The Eye (new track from Chris)
(It's too difficult for me to explain my opinion in english so, sorry Chris...)

Re: The Eye (new track from Chris)
Re: The Eye (new track from Chris)
Re: The Eye (new track from Chris)
